Come enjoy our small festival of art in the Christian tradition, 12-15 July 2019. Guests of all ages and backgrounds are warmly welcome. You will find us at the former Rogue Empire building in Huonville. This year's theme: "Grief and Hope"

Events and Activities

Daily, 10am - 4pm

  • Exhibition of visual art, gold coin entry
  • Live art demos, including film processing, metal working, painting, drawing, music, and more
  • People's choice voting on your favourite visual, musical, and literary submissions.

Friday, 12 July

  • 10:30am — Youth Drawing Workshop, free. Learn how to draw faces using a simple framework, with prize-winning artist Abigail Rowntree Intended for young people 8 to 13. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

  • 2pm — Adult Drawing Workshop, $10.  Gain rich tools from Abigail Rowntree for drawing faces with expressions and character. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

  • 10:30am — Little Kids' Art + Wellbeing Workshop, Free. Crafting for children aged 4-7, with Dr Amy Imms. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

  • 11am — iPhonography Workshop with Angie Reader, $10. Learn to take beautiful portraits and landscapes with your smartphone. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

Sunday, 14 July

  • 1pm — Grief + Hope with Art Panel Discussion. Four very different artists and a music therapist share about processing grief + hope through art from a Christian perspective.

  • 2:45pm — Children's Singing Workshop, $8. Young people 6-10 are invited to join music therapist Naomi Hadfield in singing simple folk songs. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

  • 7pm — Bach by Candlelight Concert, $15 / $40 for families. Explore the depths of grief and the heights of hope in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, brought alive by rising cello virtuoso Alexandra Legg. With a special appearance by the Valley's own favourite harpist, Christina Baehr. Bookings for this event are full.

Monday, 15 July

  • 10:30am — Writers Workshop with W.R. Gingell, Free. For young and old alike. Message us to book now as spaces are limited.

  • 1 pm — Stories of Grief + Hope, Free. Come listen and vote for this year's winning literary entries in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Three short but powerful pieces from each category have been selected by our curators. Now it's your turn to decide which ones win the top prize.

  • 3:30pm — People's Choice Awards, Free. Join us as we announce the Mandala Asset Solutions People's Choice Award winners in adult and youth visual art; The Wandering Bookseller Prizes for adults in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry; and the W.R. Gingell Prizes for youth fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Afternoon tea included.

The Pilgrim Artists festival is 35 minutes from Hobart, located in the former Rogue Empire building, 121 Huon Highway, Huonville.
